A Country Breakfast
By Editor Gary Solomon

Have you ever woken in a charming Bread and Breakfast?  All surrounded with crisp white linens and fresh flowers adorned in antique porcelain pitchers?  It's almost a shame that you have to rise. The sun streaming through lace curtains as they flutter on a soft breeze.  You have to get motivated, you will move those legs all cozy and warm.  There is breakfast to be had prepared from the hearth.

You wash and dress all fresh for the day.  Then down the narrow staircase you go,  walls covered with floral prints set in pink and rose, bows appear to stream throughout the paper creating a softness so pretty and comforting.

Descending the stair and heading in to the dining room your smell  the scent of  freshly baked treats.  You sit in a chair of which there are a multitude of forms and shapes, collected by the Innkeepers who have contributed much thought  to their arrangement of these chairs.  The Inn is filled with Victorian, Empire, East Lake and more.  With careful consideration and love the owners have created  an old- fashioned sitting room, one in which you can imagine your great- grandmother taking tea.

The table is covered with china and chintz.  A cup and saucer.  A pitcher with cream.  A straw basket filled with warm wild blueberry muffins and scones with chopped nuts and currants.  The butter is flavored with strawberry and honey. You ravenously spread the flavored butter over the warm bread.  Melting it does before you lift it to your mouth.

A soft voice wishes you a "good morning".  A heartfelt welcome.  " Hot piping coffee, freshly brewed tea or warm hot chocolate?".  The morning special is a country breakfast consisting of eggs, country fried ham and homemade skillet potatoes.  How could you be in a place so lovely as this?.

Fresh Fruit Medley Yogurt Parfait.

Our special assignment vegetarian Jackie, insists this parfait will leave you " happy and healthy all day." Reminiscent of that country morning breakfast.

Ingredients:  Yogurt-1 cup of Plain,  Lime or Strawberry.  Fresh Fruit-1 cup in chunks.  Jackie recommends Strawberries, Bananas, Melons, Oranges, Nectarines, grapes and Peaches.  Granola or Grape Nuts cereal- 1/2 cup.  Honey- 2 tablespoons.

Instructions: Alternate layers of the fruit , yogurt, honey in a parfait glass .  Sprinkle the cereal on the top.  Serve with homemade flavored butter of strawberry or honey and a warm croissant.  You will feel like you are in that lovely Bed and Breakfast
